Sanya enjoyed a record travel boom during this year’s week-long Chinese New Year holiday. The Golden Week wrapped up on February 10th, 2019.

Sanya received a total of 996,500 tourists during the 2019 Chinese New Year Holiday, up 3.06 percent year-on-year. Tourist arrivals to the city included 833,200 overnight tourists and 163,300 one-day visitors. Tourism revenue reached RMB 10.385 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7.04 percent.

Hotel Room Occupancy Rate

The hotel room occupancy rate across the city averaged 80.72 percent, (accounting for the fact that the number of hotel rooms across the city has increased 4.94 percent year-on-year).

Average hotel room rates and average hotel occupancy rates around Sanya’s four major bays and in the downtown area were as follows:

Yalong Bay (RMB 3,684; 81.01 percent)

Haitang Bay (RMB 3,276; 81.03 percent)

Sanya Bay (RMB 1,367; 76.35 percent)

Dadonghai (RMB 1,459; 75.34 percent)

Downtown area (RMB 851; 71.36 percent)

Tourist Arrivals at Major Scenic Spots & Rural Sites

Major scenic spots and rural attractions in Sanya together received a total of 1.39 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 17.06 percent. These major scenic spots and rural attractions included:

- Nanshan Tourism Culture Zone (302,200 visitors, down 1.22 percent year-on-year)

- Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot (194,800 visitors, down 14.35 percent year-on-year)

- Wuzhizhou Island (96,000 visitors, up 6.24 percent year-on-year)

- Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park (115,900 visitors, up 35.08 percent year-on-year)

- Sanya Romance Park (293,900 visitors, up 6.1 percent year-on-year)

- West Island received 32,500 visitors, down 34.63 percent year-on-year)

- Luhuitou Park Scenic Spot (54,600 visitors, up 5.85 percent year-on-year)

- Dongtian Park (34,700 visitors, down 19.81 percent year-on-year)

- Atlantis Sanya Complex Resort (excluding hotel) (87,300 visitors)

- Sanya Haitang Fantasy Town (118,700 visitors)
