On July 12, the press conference for the WTCF Qingdao Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2018 was held in Beijing. Jointly hosted by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) and Qingdao Municipal Government, the summit will be held at Qingdao Shangri-La Hotel, with the theme of “Orient Industry Trends, Brand Tourism Cities”.

At the press conference, WTCF Executive Deputy Secretary-General Li Baochun introduced WTCF and details about this year’s summit. According to Li Baochun, this year’s summit mainly consists of eight parts: opening ceremony and keynote speech, WTCF council meeting, summit forum, tourism promotion, tourism trade fair, tourism investment and financing conference, tourism exhibition, and sub-committee activities. Later, when the summit is held, about 400 representatives from nearly 100 tourism cities, more than 200 tourism-related enterprises, and many international tourism organizations including the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will participate. For now, more than 20 national tourism ministers and city mayors are confirmed to attend the summit.

He said that the summit mainly has the following characteristics: 1. Orient industry trends, and brand tourism cities. As the global tourism becomes prevalent and personal, and the integration trend of culture and tourism and the science and technology development keeps updating, the market consumption structure, tourism modes, tourism groups, consumption hot spots, information transmission, industrial forms, and market operation models are experiencing an obvious change. The “brand” is the biggest intangible asset of a tourism city. The summit will focus on the tourism development trend of the new time, and profoundly discuss the sustainable development of tourism brands
