Sri Lanka’s main religions are Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Catholicism, Tamil and so on. Every religion has their own communities; people who believe the same religion are also living in the same area as an independent religious cultural characteristic. The proportion of the religious followers is roughly as follows: Buddhists (69.3%), India Christians (15.4%), Muslims (7.6%), the Rome Catholic Church (6.9%), other Christians (0.7%), and the other (0.1%).
