Located in northwest Malaysia, Penang,also known as "Pinang ", is one of the 13 federal states of Malaysia. Located at the Straits of Malacca, Penang is divided by Penang Straits into two parts: Penang Island and Seberang. The east and north of Seberang are adjacent to Kedah while the south is adjacent to Perak; the west of Penang Island is opposite to Indonesian Sumatra across the Straits of Malacca.
