Xinhai Revolutionary Museum is located next to the Yellow Crane Tower, on the south side of the Snake Mountain, north of Yuemachang. It is known as Red Building because of a revolution in 1911.

Red Building was originally built in 1910. The revolution arose mainly in response to the decline of the Qing state, which had proven ineffective in its efforts to modernize China and confront foreign aggression. On October 10, 1911, the revolt of Tongmenghui broke out in Wuchang. The uprising troops occupied the whole city in a short time, and built the Wuchang Uprising Military Government. Then they announced the end of the last feudal Dynasty - Qing Dynasty. Wuchang was named after Uprising Area and the Red Building was called the Door to Republic of China.

It mainly consists of the Red Building, the Military Reviewing Square, the History Exhibition Hall of the 1911 Revolution and the Hall of the Historical Relic.
