Tai Shan Temple, also known as Longquan Temple, is located on the Tai Mountain in Fengyugou, two kilometers west to the ruins of Ancient Jinyang, Shanxi. There is a grave of Li Cunxiao, a great general during the Five Dynasties,at the foot of the mountain. The name of “Tai Mountain” originated from the Book of Song Dynasty. It’s said that in Five Dynasties, Liu Zhiyuan helped the army grow.Taishanyong, Taishanshi and Shishigan applied for the joining with a 20kg iron hammer, nobody can compete with them and they were famous in Jinyang. Mountains here are lofty and steep. Ancient pines and cypresses trees envelop the Dragon-spring Temple. According to old district annal, Dragon-spring Temple was Wutian Temple of Taoism. It was built in 710 (the first year of Emperor Tang Jingzong of Tang Dynasty and was ruined in the war of Jin and Yuan kingdoms. It was changed into a Buddhism temple after it was rebuilt in 1391 (the 24th year of Emperor Hongwu of Ming Dynasty). Five temples around were merged together. It’s said that at that time, there was a drought. Local officers and masses of people came to Tai Mountain to worship Buddha and pray for rain and they found a spring with running water. They believed it was the result of worship and the God of Rain bestowed them a spring, so they took Dragon-spring as the name of this temple. They also built a Temple of God of Rain. From then on, Tai Mountain was renowned for the Dragon-spring water. People, no matter if they are near or far, came to worship the god in an endless stream. Morning bells and afternoon drums in the temple ring every day. The smell of incense in the temple lasts an eternity.
