Jiaozuo Museum was established in 1965. The name of the museum was written by Mr. Guo Moruo. It is a public welfare state-owned institution with the main functions of cultural relics collection, exhibition and scientific research. It is now a national third-level museum, a member of the China Museum Association, a key scientific research base of the state administration of cultural relics, a demonstration base for patriotism education in Henan province, and a demonstration base for popularization of social sciences in Henan province. It is one of the main cultural activity centers of Jiaozuo.

The museum covers an area of 24,300 square meters and a building area of 10,500 square meters. It consists of main exhibition building, auxiliary exhibition building, cultural relics warehouse and technical room. The exhibition hall covers an area of 5,000 square meters and the warehouse area is 1879 square meters. There are 15,598 existing collections, including 28 first-class cultural relics, 178 second-class cultural relics, and 2,444 third-level cultural relics.
