Тhe National Museum of History is located in the foothills of Vitosha mountain, in Block No 1 of the governmental residence in Boyana Quarter. It is among the richest and most interesting museums in Southeastern Europe. The museum keeps more than 650 000 monuments of Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage from prehistory to this day. The exhibits are arranged in 5 spacious halls and in several smaller, temporary expositions. Outstanding among the collections is the gold treasure from Panagyurishte (4th century BC), related to Thracian king Seutus.
