Melbourne is Victoria’s capital city, the second largest city in Australia and a famous international metropolis. It is also the business, administrative, cultural and recreational hub of the state. With an urban green area of 40%, Melbourne has been rated as one of the most livable cities for consecutive years. It was the capital of Australia between 1901 and 1927. As the cultural capital of Australia, Melbourne is also the country’s sports hub which held 1956 Olympics. It is the host city of the annual Australian Open Tennis Championship, Formula One Racing in Australia and Melbourne Cup. Besides, Melbourne is a world-famous city of fashion renowned for clothes, art, music, television production, films and dancing. Melbourne, which has the largest tram network in the world, is the only Australian city that owns trams.
