Montréal is a major international city located on an island in the St. Lawrence River, which connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. It is the second largest French-speaking city in the world after Paris. This compact, bustling metropolis is also Canada’s second-largest city and home to nearly half of the population of the province of Québec. The U.S. border is a little over 70 kilometres away; to get to New York City from here, it’s a mere 90-minute flight.
