The Sternschanze district is a city in the west of Hamburg and is heavily influenced by the subcultures of the 1970s and 1980s. The Karoviertel neighbourhood of Sternschanze is relatively small, but equally maverick and has undergone many changes over the past 20 years. Nowadays, coffee shops, bars, and trendy fashion shops are gathered here, and some hedonistic small shops can be seen here, advocating an ecological and sustainable lifestyle.
