Nice Jazz Festival has a self-imposed obligation to be a crossroads of artistic disciplines.

A competition was launched last winter to create the new Nice Jazz Festival poster. Nearly 130 artists entered.

A jury made an initial selection of 70 works for the festival's 70 years.

The original pieces will be on display at the Villa Masséna, and reproductions will be shown in the public area of the festival site as part of a major exhibition devoted to 70 years of the Nice Jazz Festival. The artist BEN was selected for the official exhibition poster. A catalogue presenting the 70 works will also be published and available to the public. Of the 70 chosen designs, the work of Mauro Maugliani was selected to illustrate the 70th anniversary of the Nice Jazz Festival.

It is a representation of the trumpeter Louis Armstrong, the quintessential icon of jazz and the star of the first festival in 1948, in a retro black-and-white atmosphere that only paint can recreate, in the liturgical rite that sees music in the same tonal rhythm of shapes and colours. ” Mauro Maugliani
