The Vienna Museum reopened with a large number of exhibitions: an overview of the 2020 exhibitions in the fall and a preview of 2021 exhibition, including the Sigmund Freud Museum, which was reopened not long ago.

Sigmund Freud Museum reopened

After 18 months of renovation and expansion (including delay due to the COVID-19 epidemic), the Sigmund Freud Museum at 19 Burgstrasse in Vienna reopened on August 29, 2020. Known as “the largest psychoanalysis library in Europe”, Sigmund Freud, the famous doctor, psychoanalyst and theorist lived and worked here for nearly half a century. Thus the place is also known as "the birthplace of psychoanalysis". The entire area of the museum has been expanded and modernized, with the front hall, shops, cafe, barrier-free passages for the disabled, and research and exchange platforms set up.

Three newly designed permanent exhibitions, an art performance and a special exhibition are dedicated to show Freud's life and work, along with the development of psychoanalytic theory and practice and its significance to society and art. In addition, the history of the house at 19 Burgstrasse and the changes in the fate of all residents in this area from 1880 until today will also come into public view.
