sports events; by creating new media channels; and by establishing and maintaining international air routes.
To promote the internationalization of Sanya’s tourism products, the city has strengthened investor initiative, with the aim of encouraging world-leading tourism giants such as Changlong, Overseas Chinese Town, and Fosun Group to build a number of branded-themed resort projects in the city.
The Atlantis Sanya, developed by the Fosun International Group, officially opened in April 2018. Sanya Haichang Fantasy Town, developed by the Haichang Ocean Park Holdings, Ltd., officially opened on January 20th, 2019.
The city has also worked with major, internationally well-known travel operators such as TUI Group and Thomas Cook with the goal of helping industry professionals, strengthening exchange and cooperation, and providing higher quality services to tourists.
At the meeting, Sanya received three tourism-related honors. The city was named on a list of the “Top 10 Influencing Tourist Cities in China in 2018”; Haitang Bay National Coast was listed among the “Top 10 Influencing Tourism Resorts in China”; and Atlantis Sanya was named one of “China’s Top 10 Influencing Themed Parks in 2018.”
