Arrivals at Rural Scenic Spots
Sanya’s major rural attractions received 58,300 visitors during the holiday period. Statistics for the three rural spots are as follows: Zhongliao Village received 13,900 visitors; Yalong Bay Rose Valley received 24,700 visitors; and Haitang Bay Rice Paddy Park received 16,900 visitors.
Tourist Spending
Middle and high-income tourists were the main holiday travelers in Sanya during the holiday. Tourists with a monthly salary of 8,000 yuan or above accounted for 62.58 percent of the total figure.
Per-capita consumption of overnight visitors was RMB 2,516.58 per day during the holiday, and per-capita consumption of one-day tour visitors reached RMB 928.22. The average length of tourists’ stays in Sanya was 4.88 days. In addition, the retail sales across the city reached RMB 827.95 million during the holiday, up 10.39% year-on-year.
Sources of Tourist Arrivals
The number of individual tourists visiting Sanya surpassed the number of group tourists, at 85 percent of the total figure, including road tripping tourists and family groups. The top ten source cities for domestic visitors to Sanya were Beijing, Chongqing, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Harbin, Shanghai, Xi’an Wuhan, Nanyang and Guangzhou.
Air & Rail Passenger Volume
During the Golden Week period, the city’s airport and railway station handled 919,800 passengers, a year-on-year decrease of 0.25 percent.
The Sanya Phoenix International Airport operated a total of 2,838 flights, up 5.15 percent year-on-year. Passenger volume at the airport reached 534,100, up 6.5 percent year-on-year.
The Sanya Railway Station serviced 385,700 passengers, a year-on-year decrease of 8.28 percent.
